God's Testimony

Since we often believe human testimony, surely we can believe the testimony that comes from God.

Did you know -

1. That God has testified about his Son in His Word (the Bible)?
2. That all who believe in the Son of God know that this (His testimony) is true?
3. That those who don't believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don't believe what God has testified about his Son?
4. That God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5. That whoever has God's Son has life; and whoever does not have his Son does not have life?

I wrote this as a paraphrase from 1 John 5:9-12.

The Father's testimony concerning the Son cannot be denied. He clearly gives witness to the fact that Jesus is God in the flesh. The fact that some in John's day wanted to deny this seems incredulous, yet we are faced with the same situation in our contemporary culture. Jesus is clearly identified throughout the Word of God as being fully God and fully man. The witness of God is clear - Jesus is God in the flesh.

Those who deny this declare that God is a liar. Their denial speaks volumes about their own heart and also reveals their eternal destiny. Yet those who place their trust in God are given the promise of life, life abundant as well as life eternal. If we cannot trust in God, whom can we trust? He is the only one that has proven Himself completely and utterly reliable. Everything that the Bible teaches about Jesus is true. We can count on it. His Word will never fail us.
