"There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." [Emphasis is mine] And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." Read the rest of the story. From our five-year study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings.

SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

*WOMAN ON TOP* (R) -- it means what it says. Fetching and pleasant young Penelope Cruz plays Isabella, a culinary master and wife of a debonair restaurant owner, Toninho (Murilo Benicio). With the backdrop in romantic Bahai in Brazil, everything is ripe for a gentle and enviable romance. And the characters of this subplot are perfect for the parts. All is warm and heart-touching. Then comes the "R." The title says it all: enough to not need to read on. But in the interest of maintaining objectivity, the details are here as polite as I could make them if you must know.

Given a gift as cuisine confectioner by the gods [Ex. 20:3], Isabella grows to love to cook. And Toninho needs a cook for his restaurant. Isabella loves Toninho and Toninho loves Isabella. All the right parts are there. So, they get married, Toninho runs the restaurant, Isabella slaves in the kitchen while Toninho woos the customers and all are happy ... for a while. Something is not in balance. Isabella begins to feel that Toninho is playing while she is working. And that goes against the grain of another trait she brings into the marriage -- control. She must be in control [Eph. 5:22-33]. Isabella even experiences motion sickness when she is not in control of the car. She takes stairs instead of elevators. She gets sick on trolley cars. She even paid a cabby to let her do the driving. Isabella must even be in control in the marriage bed (thus, the name of the movie and one of the reasons for the R).

Toninho is not too happy with Isabella always wanting to be in control. Everything is a battle for control. Finally getting tired of the arrangement, Toninho decides to express his rightful aggressor position in the grand scheme of life with another woman [1 Cor. 10:8]. Upon discovery of this, Isabella flies off the handle and runs off to San Francisco to live with her transvestite homosexual friend, Monica (Harold Perrineau Jr.) [Deut. 22:5; Rom 1:26-32].

It is not long before Isabella's mastery of the culinary arts is discovered. After a short stint as a cooking instructor who taught students to "inhale the soul" of red peppers and how to precisely measure a pinch of salt, she is given her own local TV cooking show "Passion Foods" with "Monica" as her aide. The show is a smash and there is interest in going national for a while until the suited swords from Corporate decide she needs to lower the neckline of her dresses [Judg. 16:5] and lose the "freak" ("Monica"). While all this is happening the show's producer, Cliff (Mark Feuerstein) decides he is going to be Isabella's new man though she is still married While the Bible states adultery [Matt 5:31-32] is grounds for divorce, Isabella and Toninho were not yet legally divorced. Getting along fine, Isabella and Cliff almost become an item (including in bed [1 Thess. 4:3]) until Cliff shows his true colors favoring the suited swords with their $ instead of his intended's desires for the show. I mean, goodness! The corporates wanted Isabella to use Tobasco sauce instead of real peppers!

Toninho gets wind of where his wife has gone and scrambles to San Francisco to reclaim his love. Isabella has different plans. But after a typical "he said, she said" battle of the sexes, moderated by the homosexual "Monica", the two compromise and Isabella realizes the unfairness of her hunger for control [Eph. 5:21]. And "Monica" and Cliff appear to have a relationship brewing.

Yes, there was intercourse with nudity, self excitement, heterosexual couples in bed together, homosexual mannerisms, and a lot of other explicit sexual issues in *Woman on Top*. Let the listing in Findings/Scoring tell the sorted details.
