SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

*Pitch Black* (R) -- black, indeed.

A dark sci-fi flick of a failed passenger transport mission which crash landed on a far planet with nocturnal nasties ready to consume anything with flesh but only during the dark. Which would not seem to be a problem on a planet with what seems to be eternal day. Then comes the fret when one of the crew finds that a periodic eclipse of the planet's sun is coming...soon.

A so-so sci-fi flick with so-so acting and so-so script and plot with massively vulgar and invasive ignominy. Thirty-three uses of the most foul of the foul words. Twenty-nine of the three/four letter word vocabulary. Oodles of blood and guts and animals eating human flesh and ripping bodies apart, leaving only the bones. A lesser focus on sexual material than most R and PG-13 rated movies, but there nonetheless. Aside from the standard violence/gore fare, there was a distinct and inescapable of presence of programming to form the viewer's grasp of faith and God.

For this investigator, there was particularly angering programming in this "movie." The quintessential bad guy, in answering a passenger "holy man" whether the bad guy believes in God, actually spoke the words "Absolutely I believe in God. I absolutely hate the ......." [Mark 12:30; Col. 3:8] I will NOT even try to describe the final word of this guy's filthy speech [Prov. 8:13]. Recall whom it is that knows God very well but hates Him. I would like to stop doing analysis of R-rated movies because of this kind of nauseating programming, but stopping the analysis of R-rated movies is not the answer. Let Hollywood make whatever they want but if they do they had best be prepared for right wing radical fanatics like me to tell the Truth about their movies. And even more significant, let them be prepared for what will come by their deeds. No one, not one, will escape kneeling before our Lord One day to give an accounting. Not one. And to cause or teach our little ones to sin by example is something to be accounted [Luke 17:2]. And I somehow doubt that "But the little ones were not supposed to be in the theater" will have much weight with Him since I have yet to find something that is sinful for a child but is not sinful for an adult. Notice I said *sinful* not lawful.

And let me remind some of our readers that I did not write the "rules" I use in these reports. I am not acting holier-than-thou. I am just repeating the "rules" given to us a very long time ago because I love you -- and I probably could not if it weren't for the "rules" of Love God has given us. Y'see, He loves you and He loves me and He dearly wants us to love Him. And because of His caliber of love for me, I can and do love you. Any pastor or minister will gladly help you with this if you do not understand.

So many of our visitors seem to be relying only on this Summary/Commentary for a full assessment of this movie. This is not possible. For the best representation of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model applied to this movie, visit the Findings/Scoring section below.
