Not willing to accept their friends and loved ones are gone, never to return, the people of a panic-stricken smoldering world of chaos and fear continue the search for the hundreds of millions who poofed out of existence at the Rapture one week ago. Martial law is in effect. Rioting, looting and plundering are the rule rather than the exception. Evil is in control. Bad gets worse as a band of newly saved post-Rapture Christians try to bring the Gospel Truth to as many as possible while they can. Left Behind: Tribulation Force is a very sobering accounting of what they who choose to reject our Lord can expect after the King has collected His Bride.

The story opens with the ace reporter of Global News Network (GNN) from Left Behind: The Movie, Cameron "Buck" Williams (Kirk Cameron) telecasting an accounting of recent events. "It's been a week since the greatest disaster the world has ever seen. A week since people all over the world simply vanished off the face of the earth. People everywhere are still struggling to come to terms with the reality of what has happened. Actual numbers may not be known for years but initial estimates are in the hundreds of millions. Even more unbelievable and terrifying is the fact that every child from every country is among the missing For those of us who have been left behind, we are living in a world of chaos and confusion. Physical devastation is catastrophic and the clean-up process has only just begun. With everything from driverless cars to crashing planes inflicting their destruction across the planet, the death toll is sure to be astronomical. But the post-disaster clean-up is not the only issue facing over strained governments around the globe. Acts of violence, thefts, property crimes are at unprecedented levels. And with shock, grief and fear being the dominant emotions, countless numbers are choosing suicide."

As Buck continues his relating of the doom that has fallen upon mankind, a spoken description of that which they are living as he speaks, the scene moves to the United Nations headquarters to Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie) whom we discovered in Left Behind: The Movie to be the antiChrist. Carpathia is watching Buck's telecast and speaks "Look at this. Young. Energetic. Honest. People trust him ... I want him to join us." Carpathia, now the UN Secretary General and soon to be President of the UN, is adored and trusted by the entire world as the man with all the answers, as the one with the hope of peace, as the new messiah. Carpathia is with his assistant Steve Plank (Chris Bondy) and with his special assistant, Hattie Durham (Chelsea Noble and wife to Kirk Cameron) whom we met in Left Behind: The Movie as an airline flight attendant under the command of airline Captain Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson). We will soon meet Ray again but rather as a key player in this sobering tale of good versus evil than the one whose adulterous kiss with Hattie in Left Behind: The Movie seemed to initiate the Rapture. One week ago.

As Carpathia ends his speech of planning to seduce Buck to join him, Buck's message continues unscripted "My friends, I can only sit here before you now and tell you that for the first time in my career I honestly don't know what to say. Or even where to begin. I can only ask each one of you to be strong. This is Buck Williams reporting live from Chicago. Good night. And God bless." In the middle of Buck's closing commentary, we meet 20 year old Chloe Steele (Janaya Stevens) and her father, Captain Ray Steele at their home. Chloe's attitude has not changed from Left Behind: The Movie. She is still bitter and defensive. In Left Behind: The Movie it seemed her college-age attitude [Prov. 17:6] was mainly against her father, Ray Steele. But in this sequel it is clear her attitude is toward anyone. Anyone except Buck. But what that means is for you to find out.

We have now met three of the four of the Tribulation Force: Buck, Ray and Chloe. Now we meet the leader of corp four, Pastor Bruce Barnes (Clarence Gilyard). Possessing a mighty command of the Book of Revelation and other matters of written prophesy, Pastor Barnes not only demystifies the events that have happened but warns of the events yet to come. Pastor Barnes reveals many things about the prophecies of the Book of Revelation. One of them is that the antiChrist will kill every Christian he can. While this is an Absolute Truth of the Word of God about the inescapable "fate" of they who reject Christ, you may want to consider explaining that Truth to your children before you watch this movie with them if you choose to do so.

Meet the Tribulation Force. From left to right are Chloe Steele, Buck Williams, Pastor Bruce Barnes and Captain Ray Steele. Pastor Barnes sees two more events, one that has happened and one that is soon to happen that match the prophecies of the Book of Revelation: three men are mysteriously incinerated at the Wailing Wall in Israel and a renowned world leader in religion, Rabbi Ben Judah (Lubomir Mykytiuk), will make a world-changing speech that will all but lock in Carpathia as the new messiah. Pastor Barnes dispatches Buck and Ray to Israel to get the Truth to Ben Judah before he makes the speech.
I have so far just introduced you to the Tribulation Force in some detail and there I will stop. I have intentionally avoided revealing much of the plot. I gathered a dozen stills from the production, ready to build you a detailed accounting of the story from start to finish because of its eternal importance. But I changed my mind and will leave the discovery of its intricacy and genius to you if you decide the findings we reveal are acceptable to you and/or your family.

If you found Left Behind: The Movie thought-provoking and sobering, you will beyond any doubt find amplification in Left Behind II: Tribulation Force. It is an excellent compliment and magnifying sequel to Left Behind: The Movie. It will serve as well and possibly better as a dynamic evangelical tool to help you witness to others about the matter of choice we all have whether to accept on faith that Jesus is Lord and resurrected Savior.

Left Behind II: Tribulation Force is accurate to the Scriptures. Indeed, there are four episodes of characters coming to Christ in this movie which tells us of His Word which promises that even after the Rapture they who have not yet made the Decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior will have a chance for eternal Life in Paradise ... a chance to even then accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. That is, if they who are left behind survive long enough during the atrocities of the post-Rapture period -- the Tribulation; during the seven most horrible of years mankind will ever know, seven years of woe and misery beyond description for all who are left behind.

By discussion with Cloud Ten Pictures' staff, this movie is not intended to be submitted to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). If it were, confidence is high that it would earn a PG classification since it earned a final CAP score of 77 which places it perfectly in the CAP scoring range earned by PG movies (86 to 68 out of 100). While Left Behind: Tribulation Force is equivalent to either G or PG in five of the six CAP investigation areas (in I, S, D, O and M), it is equivalent to some R-rated movies in violence (W). Though confidence is high that Left Behind: Tribulation Force would earn a rating of PG by the MPAA, the movie is deeply entrenched in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Salvation through the Precious Blood, and several issues of Biblical prophecy. Therefore the MPAA might instead label it PG-13 simply because of it's Christian content. We need to understand, that which is fundamental reality to we who have come to know Jesus and the personal accountability of the Christian faith may be and often is bitter to the secular world.

In an advance availability notice email to our mail list I said "I cannot imagine Cloud Ten Pictures disappointing me." They didn't. And I doubt you will be disappointed either. I will break my own policy regarding making recommendations about movies and will, because of the importance of the message of this film, wholeheartedly recommend you see this movie at your earliest opportunity.

To speak to they who have left and who might leave email suggesting that making a recommendation in the Summary/Commentary section of these reports bearing a red CAPCon Alert light is compromising of the objectivity of the CAP analysis model, understand that this Summary/Commentary section of these media analysis reports is precisely that -- a summary in commentary format -- which can be and sometimes is subjective. However, the Findings/Scoring section, the heart of the CAP analysis model, is completely objective to His Word and could not care less whether I personally like a movie or not.

Note, however, that there are some issues in content that may be of concern to parents and grandparents. As with all story-telling dealing with violence and terror, some invasive programming is to be expected. But as is typical with Cloud Ten Pictures and their writers, they are talented enough to tell a great story without all the excessive and extreme gore and vulgarity on which most secular filmmakers rely. The listing in the Findings/Scoring section will reveal all that was noted regarding programming which may make some folks uncomfortable with letting their young children watch this movie. Some of the issues of likely concern for mom/dad include tales of and contemplation of and threat of suicide [Exod. 20:13], two automatic gunfire murders (no gore) [Prov. 3:31-32], human incineration, and a daughter's arrogance against her father [Prov. 17:6]. Further examples include gunfire to kill, firearm threats and several issues of fine-sounding arguments and smooth talk to cheapen and counterfeit the Scriptures [Rom. 16:17-18, Ps. 55:21, Col. 2:4]. There is NO foul language of any kind in this movie, not even God's name in vain with or without the four letter expletive. And the only "sexual" matter is a high slit skirt showing a little more of a woman's legs than might be considered polite. The listing in the Findings/Scoring section provides all that was noted.

Earlier I spoke of having a number of still photos from the production of Left Behind: Tribulation Force. Under the Findings/Scoring section I offer the photos as a sample of what you will get if you watch the movie. The photos under the Findings/Scoring section are in random order and are not intended to be related to the Summary/Commentary text by proximity nor are they intended to show any order of movie chronology. Maybe I am using a subliminal tease, but I really would like for you to watch this movie to see if it could be an evangelical tool for you to help you walk others to the Cross OR to maybe convince they who have not yet made the Decision to ponder ferevently and deeply the free gift of eternial Life in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Buy the movie, rent it or borrow it but watch it for yourselves because only you can decide which tools you will use to help the lost find their way to the Cross and only you who have not made the Decision can make it. And by not deciding, the decision is made.

CHAPTER/VERSE

  • Prov. 17:6 Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. [...not an object of ridicule and scorn. Nowhere have I found may a child be arrogant and hateful toward his/her loving and righteous parents, even after cleaving from them.]
  • Exod. 20:13 You shall not murder. [Suicide is murder of the self.]
  • Prov. 3:31-32 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence.
  • Rom. 16:17 - 18 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
  • Ps. 55:21 His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
  • Col. 2:4 I tell you this [of Jesus] so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

***Selected Scriptures of Armour against the influence of the entertainment industry***
  • Ps. 12:8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men [e.g., create progressively vile/offensive entertainment with impunity and no consequences to younger and younger audiences every year when enough people continue to defend it, embrace it, pay for it, enjoy it, want it].
  • Col. 2:8 Beware lest any man [by his influence] spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
  • 1 Cor. 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
  • Rom. 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
  • Jude 1:4 For there are certain men* crept in unawares [secretly slipped in among us], who were before of old ordained to this condemnation [whose condemnation was written about long ago], ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness [a license for immorality], and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. [*men: anthropos {anth'-ro-pos}, generic, a human being, whether male or female]
  • Matt. 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto [or for] one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto [or for] me.
  • Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. [Offend: skandalizo {skan-dal-id'-zo} - scandalize; to entice to sin; to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey; to cause to fall away. I suspect "offend" includes sexually abusing the little ones. "Little ones": mikros - little;, small of age; younger which can include at-home teens].
  • Ps. 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me [let no sin rule over me].
  • John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
  • 1 Thess. 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. ["Evil" includes all things that are sinful.]

As always, it is best to refer to the Findings/Scoring section -- the heart of the CAP analysis model -- for the most complete assessment possible of this movie.

  • NOTE: The CAP Analysis Model makes no scoring allowances for trumped-up "messages" to excuse or for manufacturing of justification for aberrant behavior or imagery, or for camouflaging such ignominy with "redeeming" programming. Disguising sinful behavior in a theme plot does not excuse the sinful behavior of either the one who is drawing pleasure or example from the sinful display or the practitioners demonstrating the sinful behavior. This is NOT a movie review service. It is a movie analysis service to parents and grandparents to tell them the truth about movies using the Truth.

"There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I applaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our nearly seven years of study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings.
