SUMMARY / COMMENTARY:

If Scriptural references appear, the full text appears at the end of the Summary / Commentary likely using a mix of KJV and NIV.

Rush Hour 2 (PG-13) -- definitely an R-13, just like Rush Hour (98).

Rush Hour 2 earned a final CAP score of 30 with a CAP Influence Density of 2.19. Both numbers are well into the CAP scoring range earned by R-rated movies. Like the first Rush Hour (98), Rush Hour 2 is definitely an R-13 with full male nudity [**], repeatedly, more than 50 uses of potty mouth [Prov. 17:20], and more. All in 85 minutes. If Jackie Chan is trying to make some "cleaner" movies, this one was a failure. Though Rush Hour 2 presented less foul language than Rush Hour (98), it takes more than a few less foul words to be cleaner. Of a total of 100 possible points, Rush Hour (98) earned 35. Rush Hour 2 earned 30. The Influence Density of Rush Hour (98) was 2.21. That of Rush Hour 2 was 2.19. Rush Hour 2 is a photocopy of the first Rush Hour using a little different toner.

Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan), I didn't hear his first name (if he had one) and LA cop James Carter (Chris Tucker) are at it again. While on vacation in Hong Kong and being shown the sights by Lee, Carter gets caught up in another caper with Lee, this time to bust the Fu-Cang-Long Triad counterfeiting ring. Ricky Tan (John Lone) is the master of the Asian element of the counterfeiting triad and is tied to the American triad master Steve Reign (Alan King). Reign operates Red Dragon, a casino in Las Vegas as a the American front for the counterfeiting. Some notables such as Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) play key roles. Ziyi stars as a bitter martial arts expert second in command to Tan, loyal to the triad and inflexible about her goal. Another notable is Roselyn Sanchez as US customs agent Isabella Molina. If it were not for her showing us much of her "lower attributes", her few performances would have been some of the most entertaining.

Christian Media News

While Chan was as masterful in physical acrobatics as he has ever been, Tucker was exceptionally abrasive in his verbal acrobatics. Downright dirty. His motor-mouth was about 90% of the verbal ignominy of this movie. If Rush Hour 2 were shown through a CurseFreeTV unit, there would be more silence than sound throughout the 85 minutes because of Tucker's mouth. Note that this movie presents a lot of repeat scenes during the credits. I did not stay for that so you can assume the scoring and findings are more kind than they should be.

There is little more to say about this repeat of Rush Hour (98) other than the listing of offensive programming. It, too, is much the same, just more. I am going to leave your investigation into the fitness of this movie for yourself and your family to the listing in the Findings/Scoring section.

They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. NOTE: The CAP Analysis Model makes no scoring allowances for trumped-up "messages" to excuse or for manufacturing of justification for aberrant behavior or imagery, or for camouflaging such ignominy with "redeeming" programming. Disguising sinful behavior in a theme plot does not excuse the sinful behavior of either the one who is drawing pleasure from the sinful display or the practitioners demonstrating the sinful behavior. This is NOT a movie review service. It is a movie analysis service to parents and grandparents to tell them the truth about movies using the Truth.

"There are some in the entertainment industry who maintain that 1) violent programming is harmless because no studies exist that prove a connection between violent entertainment and aggressive behavior in children, and 2) young people know that television, movies, and video games are simply fantasy. Unfortunately, they are wrong on both accounts." And "Viewing violence may lead to real life violence." I aplaud these associations for fortifying 1 Cor. 15:33. Read the rest of the story. From our five-year study, I contend that other aberrant behaviors, attitudes, and expressions can be inserted in place of "violence" in that statement. Our Director - Child Psychology Support, a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist concurs. For example, "Viewing arrogance against fair authority may lead to your kids defying you in real life." Or "Viewing sex may lead to sex in real life." Likewise and especially with impudence, hate and foul language. I further contend that any positive behavior can be inserted in place of "violence" with the same chance or likelihood of being a behavior template for the observer; of being incorporated into the behavior mechanics and/or coping skills of the observer. In choosing your entertainment, please consider carefully the "rest of the story" and our findings.

    (1) As noted in CAP Special Report-001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend," of the six CAP Investigation Areas, Impudence/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

    (2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary without God's name in vain is incorporated into the Impudence/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name with or without the four letter expletive is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area. There is no duplication.

    (3) Only portrayal of successful murder or suicide are incorporated into Murder/Suicide. Portrayal of attempts to commit murder or suicide and deaths by police action or war are incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime.
