The Rock presented such a frequency of examples of unacceptable behavior and language that the recording forms could not accomodate the sheer numbers. The formulae of the recording instrument were modified to accomodate the sheer numbers. Mathematically, each zero score was actually far, far below zero. For example, the Impunity/Hate score is actually minus 341!  But, in this analysis model, display of scores less than zero is meaningless.

The Rock presented a great deal of violence and violent deaths. While the deaths were at the hands of men, they were incorporated into Wanton Violence/Crime rather than into Murder/Suicide since the proccess by which the deaths occurred was an illegal act (illegal military operation, kidnapping, and extortion). Foul language is incorporated into the Impunty/Hate CAP Investigation Area. This movie was horribly filled with the three/four letter word vocabulary of the most foul kind, averaging once every 1 and one-half minutes!(1)  While the use of God's name in vain with the three/four letter word vocabulary is certainly foul language, its use is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area.(2)  Sex/Homosexuality was relatively infrequent in The Rock.  However, owing to the objectivity of the CAP Entertainment Media Analysis Model, the single instance of [masked] sexual intercourse did not reduce the final score any more than would an act of death by mutilation or an instance of a child screaming obscenities at his/her parent. The Rock was free of drugs and alcohol!

The ChildCare Action Project findings for The Rock are as follows.

The Rock CAP Thermometers
In accordance with the comparative baseline data, The Rock was equivalent to R-rated material in Wanton Violence/Crime (W), Impunity/Hate (I), and Offense to God (O). The movie presented material equivalent to PG material in Sex/Homosexuality (S). The Rock was equivalent to G-rated material in Drugs/Alcohol (D) and Murder/Suicide (M). Thus, The Rock was equivalent to the comparative baseline data corresponding to 50% R-rated material, 17% PG material, and 33% G-rated material.

Below is the table showing the scoring in each of the Investigation Areas plus the Final Score drawn from the actual CAP Report. In addition, the number of examples per hour of unacceptable material in each of the Investigation Areas is provided.

The Rock CAP Scorecard

(1) As noted in CAP Special Report-0001, "Investigation Area and Scoring Trend" Impunity/Hate was the strongest presence in all four movie classifications. I pray you will find time to read Special Report-0001. It has a strong revelation about the entertainment media.

(2) The use of the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Impunity/Hate Investigation Area. The use of God's name in vain with and without the three/four letter word vocabulary is incorporated into the Offense to God Investigation Area.
