Jingle All the Way (1996) was a delightful romp through Christmastime by the master of Conan - The Barbarian and The Terminator. Too bad there had to be some stuff to make the movie a PG. The age-restrictive material was totally unnecessary - it added nothing to the movie. Wanton Violence/Crime (W) lost some points due to Power Rangers style violence, criminal activity, fighting to gain an advantage, and a threat of harm by an explosive device. Impunity/Hate (I)(1) lost about half of its starting 100 points due to - you guessed it - arrogance from a child toward a parent and some harsh language. Sex/Homosexuality (S) lost a bunch of points due to sexual innuendo, extramarital flirting and advances, and presentation of nightware/underwear. Would you want some adult to walk around your son or daughter's elementary school in his/her underwear? Then don't do the 'gimme a break' about me taking points off for presentation of underwear in a movie most elementary kids will likely see. Drugs/Alcohol (D) lost the maximum amount of points for any single example of unacceptable material can loose (3) due to portrayal of a child drinking booze. Offense to God (O)(2) lost but a few points to the use of God's name in vain without the three/four letter word explicatives. Jingle All the Way (1996) was free of any material in Murder/Suicide (M)(3).
| Please remember we believe that if even one of the six Investigation Area scores for a movie is equivalent to the CAP comparative baseline database scoring range for R, PG-13, or PG material, the entire movie should be regarded as so rated. For example, if only Wanton Violence/Crime earns a score equivalent to R but all other Investigation Areas earn a score equivalent to G, THERE IS R-RATED MATERIAL IN THE MOVIE AND YOUR KIDS WILL SEE IT AND HEAR IT IF THEY WATCH THE MOVIE! |
